Indiana University Announces Agreement With MobileSphere

Bloomington, Ind. – September 13, 2005 – As of June 1, 2005, direct-dial long distance is no longer available in campus housing at Indiana University Bloomington nor at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. However, Indiana University has partnered with MobileSphere to provide highly competitive residential long distance and international calling to the campus community.

MobileSphere's service enables students, faculty, and staff to place personal, low-cost, prepaid domestic and international long distance calls from home, a residence hall, an office, a cell phone, and any off-campus phone throughout the continental United States.

The innovative CellularLD feature allows seamless international calling from any cell phone at significantly reduced rates. CellularLD provides a convenient, easy-to-use wireless long distance solution for domestic and overseas calling. Wireless users can now place calls from an existing cell phone, using a current plan, for a fraction of the cost and without the hassle of prepaid calling cards.

MobileSphere allows you to register the phones you will be using to make long-distance calls. If you register your phone, you won't need a Personal Information Number (PIN). Using a registered phone and speed dialing, you can place your calls dialing only six to eight digits. (University Information Technology Services suggests that if you share campus housing with a roommate, you do not register your residence hall or apartment phone, but use a PIN. This will prevent unauthorized use of your long distance service by your roommate.)
